Mega flea market!

Beginning of the rent contract for famous Valtteri flea market ended. This left a huge hole in many peoples Sunday life. But there's a new thing coming instead! Not in the same spot where Valtteri used to be, this one is in Pasila. It's actually exhibition hall!

It's going to be a mega flea market.

This flea market will be organized weekends, if there's no exhibitions. First time will take part on 16th of June!

I couldn't resist to go and read the comment box. One of my favorite thing is to read comment boxes because people are always so negative on them. And again people were. Some people were so sure that it will cost 16 € to get in and 9 € for parking. One person wrote: "Poor people down!" One commenter was thinking will one table cost 2500€ - just like they do when there's exhibition.

Seriously, are these people trolling?

Then someone threw facts on the table: if you are going to sell you stuff, one table costs 35€ and it includes that 9€ parking fee. Free entrance.

People are always scared of the worst case scenario and they don't bother to do some research to get the right answers. They rather live in their negative illusion.

But hey, we're getting a new flea market!

YLE x Russian

There are plenty of Russians living in Finland. Many of them have different background: one has married a Finnish man (this is the most cliché reason), one is studying here, one has moved here because of Finnish roots... Also, during summer there are plenty of Russian tourists.

Yleisradio aka Yle aka Finland's BBC is starting to broadcast Russian news for Russian natives. Novosti Yle - called program will come once a day, starting 13th of May.

Davai davai!

Ferris wheel!

In Katajanokka (which I have been writing earlier this week as well) there's another empty place. Wow, this area is so near to the city and it has so much empty place, isn't it weird? Slightly. Katajanokka has been totally forgotten, when those big people who decide about things have been focusing in filling with buildings Suvilahti area (which is very popular among people, while no one goes to Katajanokka). So, destroy the areas where people want to spend time, and keep empty places that no one goes? This time I have good news about Katajanokka, again. There will be a huge ferris wheel! Or it's not sure yet, but pretty sure. Planned ferris wheel should be ready in May, if everything goes well. There's another ferris wheel in Helsinki too - in Linnanmäki amusement park. Linnanmäki (later mentioned as Lintsi) is not in central Helsinki, so you see different things from the one in Lintsi. Katajanokka area is right next to the sea, so this ferris wheel for 300 people will give you a beautiful view to the sea and the islands surrounding Helsinki, but also to the city. In the spot, where ferris wheel will be built, there was first planned Guggenheim museum. But as many people consider this kinds of museums as high culture places, and as it was pretty expensive to built this building, the project didn't start. But now there's another new funny news: Jyrki Katainen (NCP) has given 700,000€ support money for philosopher, Pekka Himanen,  to do research. The problem is, that the case seems like begun in sauna, meaning that Mr. Katainen forgot that tose 700,000€ come from Finland state. And he also forgot that he has to compete all the researchers. Noo, I rather hire my friend. Mr. Katainen forgot that Finland state isn't his own company. Finland state is owned by its all citizens. But ferris wheel, ferris wheel, ferris wheel! We're going to have a ferris wheel!

Ticket inspectors aka Smurfs

As I have wrote, it costs you 80 € if you travel without ticket in Helsinki public transportation. Ouch. A couple of day ago I found this great Facebook-page where people warn others about Smurfs. They write on what train/metro/tram they are and where they have seen the Smurfs. This is really great idea! It's in Finnish, but you can use Bing to translate. Sharing is caring. I love this!

Ps. People are planning on making an Smurf-application too. This way you could follow where the Smurfs are going real time!

Finnish people are funny :D

Mayday in Helsinki
