318th issue: Good morning!

5:07 am from Katajanokka:

317th issue: What are these then?

I found today the post boxes for the ice breakers. When they are not in Finland, you can leave them a real message.
The most known Finnish ice breakers, boats that break the thick ice. Their names are Sisu (b.1967), Voima (b. 1954/79), Urho (1975), Kontio (b. 1987) and Otso (b. 1986). All the names are old Finnish male names. In a way these names are very cute and actually they all have a meaning. Nowadays Finnish names don't have much meaning, like Pasi is Pasi or Markku is Markku.

Sisu is a very strong part of Finnish identity. In a way it means kind of "guts". There are sayings like "With guts you'll survive", and this is used especially to boost Finnish identity because Finns believe they (we) have the guts.

Voima means basically power.

Urho stands for brave.

Kontio and Otso are the names used for bears. Bear is our national animal...

There are also few other ice breakers, but I'm not sure are they anymore Finnish owned or sold to Russia or so... Nordica, Fennica and Botanica are somewhere, maybe their home is in some other harbor in Finland, their mailbox wasn't in Katajanokka.

These ice breakers are world known, or at least in countries that sometimes need harcore ice crushers to solve the problems. When I was filming the Voima and Sisu, I noticed some tourists coming and photographing them, so I think they are world famous in a way!

One thing is sure: these ships are some hardcore ships!

316th issue: Summer holidays?

I was thinking how I'm not active on this blog at all at the moment. Before I would post something like 7 times a day. Now I hardly post once. Why's that?

Well, I'm working on a few projects at the moment. And when I'm not working on those projects, I'm drunk. Yes, drunk like most of the Finns. Also I'm enjoying this thing called "summer", because after 1,5 months it will be history again and all this happiness will be over and all the Finns will hide behind their shells.

So, I will be photographing, collecting things to write about and maybe edit some videos of Helsinki. I will be active again after the summer.

My life is so hectic, in one day everything can happen. If nothing happens concrete, my moods jump up and down and sideways. So I must have a whole big bunch of things to write then!

Someone's sandal has got stuck.....

HFUT is rising again!
